Your privacy

Max Life Charity Inc ("Max Life Foundation", "we", "us" or "our") is a nonprofit organization that supports families facing pediatric cancer. This policy explains what personal information we collect through givemaxlife.com (the "Site"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

When you donate. We collect your email address, and, if you choose to give them, your name, the person your gift honors and a team code. We also record the amount, the date and whether the gift is one-time or monthly.

Payment details. Card details are entered on a secure checkout page run by our payment processor, Stripe, and go directly to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe shares limited information with us, such as your name, email address, billing details and the amount and date of each payment.

When you create a team. We collect the display name, team name and person honored that you enter, and the platforms you select.

When you contact us. We keep the messages you send us and the contact details they include.

Technical information. Our hosting and service providers may log information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to operate and secure the Site. The Site loads fonts from Google, which receives your IP address when it does. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers.

What is shown publicly

Our dashboard is public, because we want giving to be transparent. For each donation it shows the donor name you provide, or "Anonymous" if you leave the name blank, along with the amount, the person honored and the team credited. Team names, the people teams honor, team codes and team totals are also public, and the display name you give when creating a team can be read by anyone. Your email address and payment details are never shown publicly.

Please do not enter a child's health information on the Site unless you are their parent or guardian and are comfortable with it being public.

How we use information

• To process one-time and monthly donations.
• To send donation receipts and year-end giving statements.
• To show donations and team totals on our public dashboard, and to credit gifts to teams.
• To answer your questions and requests.
• To operate, secure and improve the Site, and to prevent fraud.
• To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that work on our behalf and only as needed for that work: Stripe for payments, Supabase for our database, Netlify for hosting, Resend for email delivery and Google for email and fonts. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our donors, the families we serve or the foundation, or as part of a merger or transfer of our activities to another charitable organization.

How long we keep it

We keep donation records for as long as we need them for the purposes above and as long as tax and accounting rules require, which is generally at least seven years. We keep other information until it is no longer needed or you ask us to delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it.

Your choices

• You can give anonymously by leaving the name field blank.
• You can manage or cancel a monthly donation and update your payment details through the billing portal, which confirms your email with a one-time code.
• You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing admin@givemaxlife.com. We may need to keep records the law requires, such as donation records for tax purposes.
• You can ask us to stop sending you any email that is not a receipt or a statement you need for your records.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law. We will honor requests as the law applicable to us requires.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Other sites

The Site links to pages we do not control, such as Stripe's checkout and billing pages and our resources page. Their own privacy policies apply there.

Where information is processed

We are based in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States or in other countries.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version here and change the date at the top.
